A square crop is useful for avatars, product shots, and social posts. The key decision is what to keep in the frame: crop around the subject rather than centring the crop mechanically.
Set a 1:1 crop
Open Crop Image, add the photo, and choose the 1:1 aspect ratio. Move and resize the crop box until the important part of the image has breathing room on every side.
Use the composition grid
Turn on the thirds grid when a face or product should sit slightly off centre. The grid is a guide, not a rule: keep enough of the original scene when it helps the image make sense.
Choose the output size
Enter an exact width and height when the destination has a requirement, such as 1080×1080 pixels. Review the crop at its final size, then export. The cropper runs locally, so the source image stays on your device.
