A personal photo can work better than a familiar template when the joke depends on a team, event or shared moment. Start with a clear image and keep the wording short enough to understand immediately.
Choose the caption style
Use On image for the familiar caption-over-photo format. Choose Above and below when you need white caption bars outside the image or when text would cover important details.
Choose your own image
Open Meme Generator and choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC file. Your selected photo remains in the browser. The separate popular-template gallery requests thumbnail images from Imgflip, but it does not receive your image.
Write concise captions
Put the setup where the viewer reads first and the response or contrast second. Remove unnecessary words. A meme should still make sense when seen quickly on a small screen.
Make the text readable
Choose a font size that fits without becoming cramped. Use strong contrast and an outline where the caption sits on varied colors. Drag the text away from faces and the central action.
Export and share a copy
Review spelling and line breaks, then export. Keep the original photo separately, particularly when the meme is made from an image you may want to reuse later.
Use the tool
Ready to try it? Open Meme Generator. Your image is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to ImageGarage.
