Remove GPS location data from a photo

A photo can include more than visible pixels. Depending on the camera and app, embedded metadata may contain the capture date, camera model, editing software, and location coordinates. Remove it from the copy you share when those details are not needed.

Check and remove the metadata

Open Remove Image Metadata and add the image. Review the before-and-after report for each result, then download the verified copy. The tool re-encodes visible pixels locally in your browser rather than uploading the original.

What this protects

Removing metadata can prevent a recipient from reading embedded GPS coordinates or camera details from the new file. It does not hide information that is visible in the picture itself, such as an address, vehicle number plate, face, or landmark.

Keep the original

Download the cleaned image as a separate copy and keep the original in your own library. If you need to remove visible details too, use the Photo Editor to redact them before sharing.
